A host of events for Child Abuse Special Advocates - the state organization that provides legal advocates for victims of child abuse - including a private workshop for staff and volunteers of 6 child services organizations, a theater workshop for families about making choices, and a hosted performance festival to support local artists and raise awareness for the fight against child abuse in the county.

The Freak That Sticks Debut and Residency
Meadville, PA
A 3-night debut run of Plunge's new show, The Freak That Sticks, co-presented by Allegheny College and the Meadville Community Theatre. Residency activities at Allegheny College surrounded the event included work with several Women's Studies courses on the topic of Sex, Gender, and Stereotyping; a communications masterclass with the vocal music department; and a campus-community event surrounding the Sunday performance toraise awareness about the diversity divide in Meadville and various angles on the impact of stereotyping. Facilitator's Retreat on Choice and Power
McKeesport, PA
A two-hour retreat for the staff of a local domestic violence shelter on the use of creative approaches in addressing crisis and choice. Presented as a facilitation for facilitators, the workshop and accompanying performances focused on providing creative tools for communication and methods for exploring choice and empowerment with victims of domestic violence.

"One-ery...Two-ery..."
Grand Theater, Elizabeth, PA
Two performances of our revised cornerstone show in a beautifully restored theater southeast of Pittsburgh, PA. A three-part residency accompanied the performances in partnership with a local domestic violence shelter. Inner Freak
Rainbow Youth Alliance, Rockville, MD
A performance workshop on individuality for 30 high-school youth and adults. Based on material from "The Freak That Sticks," the workshops focused on "finding your inner Freak" from the perspective of LGBTQ teenagers.

Sneak Freak Peek Concert
Busboys & Poets, Washington, DC
A prime-time concert event at the happening new venue, Busboys & Poets, featuring songs and scenes from "The Freak That Sticks, " along with new original material, musical theater, pop, jazz, and folk songs.

Power Struggles and the Call for Creativity
Creative Convergence Festival, Baltimore, MD
An interactive workshop given as part of this festival of art, activism, and community to address the role of creativity in modern society and the impact of bringing the creative process to non-traditional arts areas.

Power and Powerful/Choices and Choosing
Maryland Multicultural Youth Center, Riverdale, MD
A 2-day residency through the University of Maryland's Center for Educational Partnership. Interactive workshops drawing on material from "one-ery...two-ery..." We focused first on traditional and alternative definitions of power and then on exploring the depth and influence of choices in the lives of 30 middle schoolers from an integrated neighborhood.

Learning How To Fly
College Access Fund Scholarship Benefit Concert, Bethesda, MD
An eclectic evening concert designed around the building blocks of going to college: making decisions, facing fears, and crafting a future. Proceeds benefitted the College Access Scholarship Fund of the River Road Unitarian Church.

Week-long residency co-sponsored between Allegheny College and Women's Services, Inc. and capped with a public performance. The residency included workshops and performances with:
  • Women's Studies program at Allegheny College (performance workshop)
  • High School Choirs at the Meadville Area Senior High School (career workshop)
  • Vocal Music department at Allegheny College (masterclasses and vocal coachings)
  • Domestic Violence Support Group of Women's Services, Inc.(workshop on the Power of Choice)
  • Staff of Women's Services, Inc. (workshop on privilege, power, and choice)
  • Active Aging, Inc. (community center concert)
  • Middle School Arts Program (interactive workshop on "What Power Looks Like")
